The Laguna Seca round was overall positive for Team Bimota Alstare, with Ayrton Badovini and Christian Iddon producing convincing performances on the Californian track, especially in Race 2, managing to finish ahead of everyone in the EVO class.

Unfortunately due to the already known rules on homologation, until Bimota adapts production, the team will not take points and will not appear in the final rankings: the issue should be resolved by mid-August and if Bimota is not in compliance it will not will no longer be able to take part in the championship.

“In race one we had a problem with the fuel pump and I was forced to go back to the pits and have it fixed” – he declared Ayrton Badovini – “I actually had to come back on two occasions, but luckily in the end the bike worked well. However, the set-up of the bike didn't give me the right sensations in race 2, but thanks to the first red flag we managed to make some changes and the feeling improved a lot. The second one however allowed us to change the tires and use a different compound. I immediately felt at ease and pushed hard. The battle with Christan was very good and on the last lap I managed to overtake him. Race 1 wasn't great, but I'm very happy with the second.”

“Race 1 was very difficult. We made some changes to the front but I still wasn't able to find the feeling and we weren't able to understand the reason" – he said Christian Iddon – “I pushed as hard as I could, but having no sensitivity I couldn't give my all. In race 2 there were several starts and on all occasions I was among the top in the category. I thought I would get the better of my teammate, but then I made a mistake at Turn 5 and Ayrton passed me. Having led most of the race, I have to say that being beaten on the last lap was not easy to accept. This afternoon the bike was performing perfectly and I have to thank all the guys – they were incredible!”
