We are certainly not used to seeing a "zero" under the points heading when it comes to Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK): the reigning Five-time World Champion, in fact, immediately recovered from the disappointing Saturday, which did not see him reaching the finish line in Race 1, with victory in the Tissot Superpole Race and second position in Race 2 at Phillip Island.

Rea finished just 37 thousandths behind his Kawasaki teammate Alex Lowes with whom he fought for the victory in Race 2. The Northern Irishman tried to overtake Lowes at the last corner but the Briton managed to defend his position and went to win his first race with the Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK and his second ever in the premier class of production derivatives.

statements Jonathan Rea

“Alex was more competitive than the Yamahas and Ducatis. Scott [Redding]'s pace was also good and so I expected this situation. I was in front and tried to go as slow as possible to manage the tyres. It was a game of strategy. This time it didn't go well but I stayed there until the end and all in all I'm happy. We did a nice Kawasaki double and this is a great result for the team. The fact that we didn't lose too many points after zero on Saturday was also good."
