The Aprilia Racing Team was presented yesterday in Milan which, for the now upcoming season of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, will field Eugene Laverty and Sylvain Guintoli.

In its first four years in the Superbike World Championship, the Team won 4 world titles (two “pilots” and two “builders”). These have contributed to increasing the palmarès of Aprilia and the Piaggio Group: the former now boasts 51 world titles in twenty years of racing, the latter with its own brands has reached 101 world titles, thus becoming the most winner ever.

The motorcycle entrusted to Laverty and Guintoli will be the innovative four-cylinder RSV4, characterized by the exclusive architecture of the narrow V engine; Luigi Dall'Igna, Technical and Sporting Manager, will once again be leading the Aprilia Racing Team.

Luigi Dall'Igna:
“We are preparing to face the fifth season of official commitment in the World Superbike, a championship that fully reflects Aprilia's philosophy because it involves bikes derived from a series product. Both Eugene Laverty, who knows the RSV4 well, and the newcomer Sylvain Guintoli have the potential to achieve the ambitious results imposed by Aprilia's tradition and their status as reigning champions.
The RSV4 was simply extraordinary in the 2012 season: all the riders who took it to the race, not only Max Biaggi but also Laverty and Davies, won with this bike. The first tests of the season, in recent days in Jerez, confirmed our expectations. A long and challenging season awaits us, for which we present ourselves prepared and motivated".

Eugene Laverty:
“With a season of experience behind me I can certainly aim for important results. I prepared well over the winter and in the first tests of the season I worked really hard together with the Team, continuing the development of the RSV4. It's still early to talk about goals and rankings, but I won't deny that my intention is to win the Superbike World Championship."

Sylvain Guintoli:
“Getting on the world champion bike is an honor for me, I feel that it is the most important occasion in my career as a rider. Many have asked me if I feel any particular pressure, in reality the desire to do well and demonstrate my value in World Superbike overcomes any type of tension. The thing that surprised me most about the RSV4 was how immediately natural it was to drive. I immediately found myself "at home", despite having ridden bikes with very different characteristics in the past. The RSV4 is fast, but more importantly it has adjustments that allow me to adapt it to my style."

I also think Macho will win this year, he has to because if the new Hondone V4 and Yamaha R1 arrive next year as is rumored, I see it tough for the others.

if melandri wins it is only because the handle is there. but in terms of motorbike potential, stick to the tram….kawasaki is superior at the moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and even Aprilia get in the queue..

If I had to get an Italian motorbike I would choose this one without the slightest doubt, the only motorbike that competes and wins on equal terms with the Japanese ones, the only thing is that I don't like the sound of the V4. I prefer the sound of the inline 4, but anyway, great deal!

Currently the Aprilia is a bit like the HRC in MGP... the most advanced bike, then it depends a lot on the riders who ride it... in my opinion Sylvain will be the protagonist... listening to his words he seems very confident... the bike too. .
