Orphaned of its most representative rider in recent years, Kenan Sofuoglu, the FIM Supersport World Championship restarts from the challenge at Donington Park with five riders, all with Yamaha engines, within just 12 points.

Randy Krummenacher (BARDHAL Evan Bros, WorldSSP Team) currently leads the general classification, despite fifth place in Imola, above all thanks to a series of less than brilliant European races by Lucas Mahias (GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP Team), who has not been on the podium since Thai round: Sunday could be decisive for the reigning champion.

In his debut year in WorldSSP Sandro Cortese is already a title contender: the Kallio Racing team rider returns to Donington Park for the first time since 2009, when he raced in 125cc, and it will therefore be interesting to follow his progress.

They currently occupy fourth and fifth positions in the standings, but Jules Cluzel, winner of the Imola round, and Federico Caricasulo who finished immediately behind the Frenchman in his home race are also definitely aiming for the top.

Raffaele De Rosa (MV Agusta Reparto Corse by Vamag), the first non-Yamaha rider in the ranking, is also doing well and has reached the podium twice with the new team.

Niki Tuuli (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda) will not be on the starting grid: the Finn made his debut last weekend at Le Mans in Moto2 in the SIC Racing Team.
