SBK|Pirelli Spanish Round: Suzuki on the track with the HPC Power team
Dominic Schmitter will race the new GSX-R1000
The riders' world title has been assigned to a legendary Jonathan Rea, who for the third consecutive time has won the world championship crown, and with the constructors' title firmly in the hands of Kawasaki, one of the topics of interest in the next round of the Championship, scheduled for Jerez de la Frontera this weekend, it's Suzuki's return to the grid.
The new Suzuki GSX-R1000 will line up on the grid with the HPC Power Suzuki Racing team and will be entrusted to the Swiss rider Dominic Schmitter, who has already raced with this bike in the German championship, where he achieved six top 10 placings in fourteen races with two sixth places (Race 2 at the Nürburgring and Race 1 at Hockenheim) as the best result.
Schmitter will return to racing in the Superbike World Championship after a year of absence: he was in fact part of the Grillini Kawasaki team in the 2018 season.
This "flash" return during the last two rounds of the year will serve Suzuki to test the development and competitiveness of the new model in anticipation of the full return to the top production-derived championship which will most likely take place in 2019.
