SBK Test Jerez Yamaha – The Yamaha WorldSBK team leaves the first two-day test of 2023 in Jerez with an excellent feeling, thanks to the excellent performances of Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Andrea Locatelli.

Razgatlıoğlu finished both days of testing in the lead, with a time of 1'38.269 on the second day approaching the circuit lap record. Teammate, Andrea Locatelli, focused on evolution, testing some components that had already been tested in rainy conditions in December, but recorded a significant improvement on the second day, finishing seventh in the times.

“A bad fall this morning but I'm very lucky, just a little pain in my left leg but now the feeling is improving. We have improved the R1, with good acceleration and good grip – I was trying today for the 1'37 record, but I couldn't do it! Today we used a Q tire and I did the best lap, 1'38.2. Overall, good tests for me: in Portimão we have to try a little more set-up because we are happy but we won't stop. We just try to continue to improve everything, thanks to my team, every day they are working and now we start to see how the level of the bike is and I am very happy.”

“These two days of testing were positive, because we returned to the track in the dry – the last time here in Jerez it rained for three days! We managed to regain confidence with the R1 in the dry and it was good to understand where to start with some new features for 2023. Today we improved a lot compared to yesterday and this is a good point to start again in Portimão. I was also able to push a little bit more and try to close the gap to the leaders a little bit, but to be honest we didn't use a lot of soft tires – or the Q tire – to try and improve the lap time. We mainly try to get around the bike and look for good grip which is more important for racing. In the end, two positive days, no crashes or mistakes and I had a good feeling with the bike, so now we can continue working next week."
