SBK, Prosecco DOC Portuguese Round, FP2: Rea dominates the first day

An excellent lap at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal brings the reigning world champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) to first place: 1'42.621 which gives him the best time with almost four tenths of an advantage over his closest rival, or Marco Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati).

The rider from Ravenna performed a good FP2 after losing the entire morning session due to an engine failure after just two laps: the mechanics worked tirelessly to replace it and allow him to take to the track in the afternoon, so as not to compromise the entire end week.

The third fastest time goes to Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), one tenth behind his teammate, immediately followed by Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), the great protagonist of this day.
Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) is fifth, thanks to the time set in FP1, which he was unable to improve in the afternoon.

Sixth time again for Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia), followed by Alex Lowes on Yamaha, Lorenzo Savadori with the other Aprilia, Michael van der Mark also on the R1 and Stefan Bradl with the CBR Honda, to conclude the top 10 of the riders they will face tomorrow directly the second heat of Tissot-Superpole.
