SBK, Prosecco DOC German Round, Race2: sixth place for Leon Camier
Positive placings for the MV driver always chasing the podium
Unstable weather and gusty winds greeted the riders on the second and final day of racing at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, scene of the ninth round of the World Championship of production-based derivatives.
Leon Camier, MV Agusta Reparto Corse driver, after a good fifth place in Race1, came close to achieving the same placing again in the second heat, only missing it by 0.237s.
By virtue of the new regulations, Leon started from the front row, taking the fight for the lead.
After 14 laps, the Briton was in fifth position with Tom Sykes' fourth place in his sights, but unfortunately on the last lap, thanks to a few drops of rain that began to fall on the track, Camier made a small mistake which allowed Alex Lowes to mock him at the last minute.
“Unfortunately I had some problems at the start and I think we will have to work a little more on the clutch setting, to improve on race starts” – he commented Leon Camier – “Apart from this, however, the bike was flawless today too and I was able to establish a very fast race pace. I tried to overtake Tom Sykes from the start and then we found ourselves fighting together for fourth position; Tom had a very fast pace and I made some mistakes on the final lap, the last of which cost me 5th position in favor of Lowes. I'm a little saddened by missing out on the top 5 but at the same time I'm more than satisfied with our performance in the race and now I can't wait to get back on track in Portimao."
