He knew that the fundamental issue of Race 2 would be not to get too stuck in traffic: Jonathan Rea at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli achieved the 64th career victory which earned him his eighth podium in a row on the Adriatic track, like the legendary Troy Bayliss.

With Chaz Davies only fourth, Rea rises to a +92 point lead in the World Championship: the championship will now go on holiday until September and upon return the title race risks being entirely a formality.

It was an exciting and uncertain race that ended a few laps from the end: Van der Mark was in the lead for a long time and tried to defend the lead with his nails, but it wasn't enough.
Marco Melandri finally smiles on the podium today after a consistent and problem-free race: the man from Ravenna complicates Rea's comeback as much as he can and keeps his teammate Chaz Davies, who was off the podium today, at bay.

Rea immediately recovered three positions at the start, then benefited from the engine failure of Xavi Fores' Panigale, but the overtakings on Chaz Davies, Tom Sykes and Marco Melandri, who defended himself until the tenth lap, are all thanks to him.
At that point he closed in on Michael van der Mark, whose R1 was faster in a straight line and quicker to accelerate, thanks to 600 laps and 10-15 horsepower more per regulation, and overtook him three laps from the term.

Another anonymous race for Tom Sykes, fifth, four and a half seconds behind the team leader, and for Aprilia which was unable to repeat yesterday's excellent performance: Eugene Laverty finished in eighth place behind his teammate Lorenzo Savadori.
Good sixth place instead for Alex Lowes, recovering from twelfth position.

Loris Baz (GULF Althea BMW Racing Team) recovered from yesterday's fall to finish in ninth position, while Leon Camier (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) closes the top 10. Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team) is the best independent driver with eleventh place.

The World Superbike championship will go on holiday for over two months and will only resume on 15-16 September in Portimao.
