Superbike Misano Emilia Romagna – In the fifth round of the FIM Superbike World Championship, which will be held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli next weekend, Pirelli will launch a new SCQ rear tire with extra soft compound (C004 specification). This tire has been specifically designed to offer more consistent performance during the race, allowing riders to cover the 10 laps of the Superpole Race more easily.

As regards the front tyre, we confirm the solutions already used in the last round. The new soft SC0 front option, which debuted in Barcelona, offers a high level of grip to balance the characteristics of the softer rear tires. 6 pieces will be available per pilot of this solution. In addition to this option, we will have the medium SC1 and the hard SC2, both available in 8 pieces per rider.

As regards the rear tyre, Pirelli confirms the solutions already tested in previous European rounds: the super soft standard SCX and the development SCX-A (B0800 specification), to continue the direct comparison between the two options. Both will be available in 8 pieces per rider. In addition to these, we will also have the soft SC0 (5 pieces per rider) and, only for the Superpole and Superpole Race sessions, the new extra soft SCQ tire (specification C004).

The partnership between Pirelli and the series-derived racing championship, which began in 2004, represents an unprecedented agreement in terms of duration in the world of international motor racing. This collaboration was also the first to introduce the use of monorubber tires into elite motorsport, a model later adopted by other championships.

Pirelli has chosen to respect the fundamental philosophy of this championship, which is based on a strong direct link with motorcycles and road products. Therefore, the range of tires offered does not consist of prototypes, but of standard production products available for purchase by all motorcyclists on the market. Over the last 20 years, Pirelli has constantly introduced technological innovations. It was the first company to introduce the use of color to distinguish different tire compounds, using colored labels on the shoulder of the tyres. In 2013, Pirelli was once again a pioneer in abandoning 16,5-inch tires in favor of new 17-inch tires, a more common size among road riders. Five years later, in 2018, tires with larger sizes were introduced, with a 125/70 front and a 200/65 rear. More recently, Pirelli has introduced new solutions in high-performance compounds, such as the SCX and SCQ rear tires, capable of offering even higher performance to riders. Finally, a new soft solution, the SC0, has also been introduced for the front. All these innovations have redefined standards in the world of racing and have also had a significant impact on the tire market.
