SBK | GP Misano Race 1: Rea, “Never fought so hard to win as for this fifth place”
"We have problems with used tyres, we know how to resolve them but it will take time" added the Briton
SBK GP Misano Kawasaki – Jonathan Rea finished Race 1 of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, fifth stage of the 2023 MotoGP, in fifth position.
Rea fought in the early stages of the race for positions at the foot of the podium. Fighting throughout the race with Bassani he managed to finish fifth thanks to Petrucci's fall after an exhausting defense on Aegerter.

“I told the guys in the garage that I didn't fight as much to win a race as I fought for that fifth place. In the end Aegerter and I exchanged places several times. At first I felt pretty good. The bike worked and I felt my pace was OK. As soon as I started getting into the race and the tires went down a bit, I had to ride in a completely different way and it didn't work. The bike, with grip, seems different. When the grip decreases, I need a different set-up to gain the advantage when the tires move. We have a good idea of how to fix the problem, but it's just going to take a long time. So it's frustrating."
