SBK | GP Jerez Race 2: Locatelli, “In the end it was another great season”

SBK Gp Jerez Yamaha – Andrea Locatelli finished Race 2 of the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez, 12th stage of the 2023 World Championship, in tenth position.

Locatelli suffered an unfortunate crash in the Superpole Race but managed to recover an excellent fifth place after a red flag to create a successful result in the sprint. The Italian was unable to replicate his podium pace from Race 1 and had rear grip problems in Race 2, crossing the finish line in ninth place before the track limit penalty was applied. With seven podiums under his belt this season, Locatelli can be proud of having achieved a strong fourth place in the Riders' Championship behind the “titanic trio” of WorldSBK.

“I think it was a really good weekend after Race 1 yesterday – today we were also a bit lucky during the Superpole Race to get fifth position at the end and improve a lot. It was a good position to restart, however I don't know what happened during Race 2, but the feeling was a bit complicated and the rear grip was really bad. Ending the season like this is a bit sad. Yesterday was a really positive day – another podium – especially after a difficult Friday. In the end it was another great season, we got a lot of podiums and did a great job overall – fast more or less in every race and in many sessions. We need to look ahead and prepare for next season in a positive way, to be strong and focused again in 2024. I want to say thanks to the whole team, from me and also with Toprak: working together for these three years has been fundamental. It was incredible to always improve and make progress on the bike."
