SBK | Geico US Round, FP1: Rea is immediately the fastest

Jonathan Rea was the fastest in the first of the three free practice sessions scheduled today at Laguna Seca, scene of the eighth round of the Superbike World Championship, ahead of Marco Melandri, who is pressing on just 96 thousandths from the top, and Eugene Laverty in great dusting with Aprilia.

Already considerable gaps for the pursuers, starting from the half second of Tom Sykes with the other Kawasaki, followed by Alex Lowes on Yamaha, Chaz Davies sixth with the Panigale, Van der Mark with the R1, Leon Camier on Honda, Jordi Torres for the MV Agusta team and wild card Josh Herrin on Yamaha.
