Unlike Saturday, which brought sunshine and cold temperatures, the second heat held on the TT Circuit Assen for the Prosecco DOC Dutch Round saw the riders racing in truly uncertain conditions, with a wet track and threats of rain.

Everyone started with wet set-ups, with the exception of Guintoli and Reiterberger with intermediates, around halfway through the race, with the asphalt almost completely dry, the spectators witnessed a pit stop to change tyres.

Lorenzo Savadori, driver of the IodaRacing team, stopped from the pits on lap thirteen to put dry tires on the RSV4, with which he immediately set excellent times, which allowed him to maintain fourth position until the end of the race, the best of Italians.

The young rider, in his first year in WorldSbk, is proving to be the right man to bring the RSV4 Aprilia back to the top.

“I am satisfied with the two placings of the weekend” – he stated Savadori – “We still need to sort out some things. In Race 1 we had to improve the race pace a little, especially from mid-race onwards, because in the first laps we managed to stay with the leaders, while afterwards we had some problems, so we have to do better in the second part of the race. As for Race 2, it was very strange. First it hailted then the sun came out. We started with the wet track and rain tyres, but after about 4 laps it started to dry and so there was a flag to flag. Everything was new for me, the return to the pits and the tire change, which I had never done before in a race. I am very happy above all with the work that IodaRacing is doing and with the help of Aprilia. The only doubt remains, if I had stopped perhaps just one lap earlier, perhaps it would have gone even better. I'm very satisfied with how we're going, but I'm sure I wouldn't have gone so far as to say, before the start of the season, that in Round XNUMX I would have finished close to the podium. I had to test the bike first before going too far, I certainly know what the potential of the bike and the team is, we can all grow together very well, I'm sure of this."

Even in Race 1 Savadori was no less incisive, taking a good sixth place starting from the fourth row of the grid.
His was an attacking race: after a good start, he gave life to a good battle with Alex Lowes, Leon Camier, Jordi Torres and Markus Reiterberger, to the enthusiasm of the public present, historically very competent and demanding.

“It was a positive race (Race 1, ed)” – he said Savadori – “It's just a shame because in the first laps I managed to stay with the leaders and it seemed like I was able to keep up. I lost a bit of time at the beginning with overtaking and that's why I had fallen away, but I was always there with the leaders and I was lapping the same. We still suffer a little after half the race because we can't keep the pace and we drop a little, we still have to understand the reasons for this, once we do we will be able to do even better. I'm satisfied with how it went also because we did free practice in the wet, the superpole with a problem that limited us and a dry race. I then managed to reduce the gap to the leaders considering that I lost seven seconds in two laps due to some small problems, but we are getting closer and closer. I want to thank the team and Aprilia Racing for the progress we are making."

The next appointment with the championship will be in two weeks, from 29 to 1 May, at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola for the Motul Italian Round.
