Today began the three days of the Monza rally show, a race that has been held on the Brianza circuit since 1978. This year, as per tradition, there will also be Valentino Rossi who arrives at the Rally as reigning champion, having triumphed last year. The Pesaro native is now a regular presence at the event, having already won three times in the past. This year too Rossi will drive a Ford Fiesta WRC 1.6 and like last year he will team up with Cassina.

The reigning champions will have to contend with rally drivers like Dindo Capello, already 5 times winner of the Monza Rally and who this year he will support Dani Sordo, official driver of the WRC world championship of the Citroen team. There will also be Italian rally champions such as Piero Longhi, Alessandro Perico, Paolo Andreucci, Luca Rossetti and Tobia Cavallini. Among the other participants also the six-time motocross champion Tony Cairoli, the brothers Brivio and “Uccio”, Alessio Salucci Rossi's inseparable friend. This year however unlike last year Jorge Lorenzo, Andrea Dovizioso and many other riders of the world championship will not be there who took to the track in the three days in Brianza.

“The Monza Rally is something we look forward to every year – said Valentino Rossi – the MotoGP season is over and it's always nice to be here. I like it because there is competition, adrenaline, but at the same time it's fun, because it's like a game and therefore we have little pressure on us. Last year I did well (he won the edition for the third time ed.) and this year the race course is really tough. So we hope to bring home a good result once again but the main objective is to have fun."
