Valentino Rossi underwent surgery on the shoulder that caused him so much discomfort and pain during the 2010 MotoGP world championship. The new Ducati centaur had injured himself while training with a motocross bike on the eve of the Japanese GP, a GP which was then canceled due to the now famous eruption of the Eyjafjallajökul volcano. At the beginning the problem was underestimated and in fact in the end that was the real problem of the nine-time world champion rather than the fracture of the tibia and fibula.

Rossi was operated on by Doctors Castagna and Porcellini who, seeing the situation of the Pesaro native, understood that the situation was truly critical. Here are their words.

“The operation was perfectly successful and approximately 90 days are expected for re-education, but we will do everything possible to meet the pilot's needs. The condition of the shoulder was really critical. Valentino was tenacious in racing with an injury of this type.”

Rossi, who tested the Ducati just before the operation, will have to rest for around 90 days but the doctors have made it clear that they will meet the needs of the rider who for no reason wants to skip the next Sepang tests which will be held in February.
