Valentino Rossi MotoGP 2016 Press Conference Motegi Yamaha Movistar – Valentino Rossi spoke during the press conference on the eve of the first day of testing for the Japanese Grand Prix, the first race of the non-European triptych. Here's what the Yamaha rider from Pesaro had to say.

“Motegi is a track where I have achieved many podiums, but only two victories and I would like to increase my tally. This year the tires will be fundamental, as will the weather, which is always complicated here. Today, for example, it is very cold and we hope that the temperature will increase. I'm hoping for an entirely dry weekend, but last year for example, the rain only came during the race.”

How do you deal with the three consecutive races?

“It's always complicated, because if you have a problem you risk bringing it with you, but on the other hand they are three fantastic tracks, where it's always a pleasure to drive.”

What is the goal for this triptych?

“Trying to postpone Marc Marquez's title victory as much as possible, then there's the derby at Yamaha. Second place isn't the same as winning, but both Lorenzo and I want to finish ahead of the other, beating Lorenzo is always a great satisfaction.”

delaying mathematical certainty is feasible, preventing MM from being the 2016 champion is impossible…..

I think it is more difficult for Marc to win the world championship than for Valentino to be able to delay the Spaniard's final victory. Delaying Marc's world championship is a simple thing to achieve, but it is practically impossible for Marc to win the world championship in this race.

There are 4 races left to go, for a total of 100 pts still to be awarded. For Marc to win the world championship on Sunday, he must have, at the end of this race, at least 75 points ahead of second. Vale, who is currently second, is 52 points behind Marc. To be able to get the necessary 75 pts, it is essential for Marc to win the GP and hope that Vale finishes no higher than 14th position, which is equivalent to saying that Vale should fall. Personally I don't see any other way that Valentino could get to 14th position.

From the way things are, I think it's clear that delaying Marquez's world championship is easy, while it is practically impossible for the other conditions, essential for winning the world championship, to occur.

What idiotic goal is it to postpone Marquez's world championship for as long as possible???? In all the years that I have been following racing, I have never heard of such idiocy... what changes at this point if he wins it in the penultimate or last place?? ??
Would this be the goal of an alleged motorcycling champion??
