MotoGP Valencia, Warm Up: Weather protagonist, Dovizioso ahead of Bradl and Rossi
Third and fourth times for the Ducati of Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden
It continues to rain on the Valencia circuit, the scene of the last stage of the 2012 world championship. The fastest on the track with rain tires was Andrea Dovizioso from Forlì, riding the Yamaha SAT of Team Tech 3.
The next Ducati rider stopped the clock at a time of 1:44.197, a time 122 thousandths better than that set by the 2011 Moto2 champion Stefan Bradl, riding the Honda RC213V SAT of Team LCR.
Ducati rises again as usual in the wet, third with Valentino Rossi. The driver from Pesaro, who was also leading the session, ultimately suffered a gap of just over three tenths from "Dovi" and in turn preceded team-mate Nicky Hayden.
Two Ducatis therefore in third and fourth place ahead of the Honda RC213V SAT of Spaniard Alvaro Bautista's Team Gresini. Behind the former rider of the 125 and 250cc classes we find the second Yamaha of Team Tech 3, that of the British Cal Crutchlow, confirmed for next season.
Behind Crutchlow we find the 2012 world champion Jorge Lorenzo, riding the Yamaha Factory. The Mallorcan driver is ahead of the excellent Aleix Espargarò, with the first CRT, the ART of Team Aspar.
Tenth and eleventh times for the two Honda Repsols of poleman Dani Pedrosa and Australian Casey Stoner, in his last race in the world championship. Among the Italians with the CRTs, the fastest was Danilo Petrucci, 16th with the Ioda Suter BMW while Michele Pirro, Claudio Corti and Roberto Rolfo were in 18th, 20th and 21st position respectively.
