Toni Elias demonstrated his determination in the morning's free practice in Valencia on the damp track, setting the eighth time (1'46.393). In the second round, however, the more insistent rain made the asphalt more treacherous, deceiving several riders including Elias himself who fell while he was sixth at the start of the session. The word is up to him.

“It was difficult to get back on track after what happened in Sepang but it's the best way to honor Marco and his talent. This morning I was pumped up and had a good pace with bike one on the damp track: I lacked a bit of grip but overall I was going fast. In the afternoon I went out with the same bike but after three laps I lost the front at turn two and fell: I probably pushed a bit too much. I returned to the garage and took bike two but the set up was slightly different and with the time left we couldn't make any major changes. I didn't feel the same traction but the basic set up works well in the wet... now we have to wait until tomorrow and see what the weather has in store for us."
