Colin Edwards closed the first day of free practice in Valencia, the scene of the last stage of the 2009 world championship, with the seventh fastest time. The Texan Yamaha rider is still fighting for fifth place in the world championship standings with Andrea Dovizioso and for this reason he will give his maximum. The word is up to him.

“This is a physical track and maybe it's just because I'm getting older, but it wasn't easy at the beginning, but at the end I felt pretty good. We started with two bikes and the first one was really good. The second bike was set up based on the comments I gave to my guys and Yamaha in Malaysia and which had the setup with different geometries. It really helped me turn a lot better. I have a problem when cornering, the revs but the bike tends to widen. Fifth place in the world championship is still up for grabs, it's a tough task but I will give my all for Monster Yamaha Tech 3. Those four guys in front make another championship and I need Andrea Dovizioso to have a difficult weekend.”
