MotoGP – Toseland wants the premier classMotoGP – Toseland wants the premier class

A year ago these days we were talking about James Toseland in Suzuki MotoGP. A negotiation well underway, in an advanced stage, but when everything seemed to point to the signing of the 2004 Superbike champion, here's the twist (or rather, "genius"): Paul Denning changes his mind and leans towards hiring Chris Vermeulen. With hindsight, it was better this way for both parties: Suzuki found themselves with a talent who had scored two pole positions, while "Giacomino" relaunched himself in Superbike with Ten Kate's Honda. However, Toseland has never stopped thinking about MotoGP, his point of arrival, the dimension he has been seeking for several years now.

In recent weeks the former Ducatista has been intensifying relations with various top class teams in view of an agreement for the 2007 season. He has spoken a bit with everyone, but at the moment the most probable hypothesis would see him with a Ducati Desmosedici with Bridgestone tires of the d'Antin team. Toseland, like Vermeulen last year, doesn't want to wait for Honda's decisions, he just wants to go to MotoGP as soon as possible. In his opinion, a Ducati Satellite now is better today than an RC211V tomorrow...
