It's a Valentino Rossi with a smile on his face who speaks at the end of the three days in Sepang. The Yamaha rider, who this year replaced Jeremy Burgess with Silvano Galbusera, achieved the second time just 194 thousandths behind Marc Marquez, managing to record his best time ever on the Malaysian track. The feeling with his new crew chief and with the new M1 is growing and he is therefore looking to the future with great confidence. The word is up to him.

“The test went very well, I am very happy, especially for the second position and also for having set my best time ever on the Sepang track. It's the first time I've gone under 2'00 and I'm just one tenth behind Marc (Marquez, ed.), who set the absolute track record. I found a good feeling with the bike, we found some good solutions and it was very positive. We tried a long run in the afternoon which helped us understand any problems. We struggled a bit to keep a good pace, but it wasn't that bad. I am satisfied with this first test.”

Hell no Vale, there's no need to make it seem prettier than it is, you've already made a good debut this year, let's try, for once, to tell it like it is, especially since it's absolutely not difficult to control.

    Why this outburst?
Above, Vale claims to have approached Marc "to just one tenth", while in reality the tenths are 2 thousandths to be precise.

    Wrong habit or football journalist?

    1. This tells me that a 22-year-old Valentino would have competed and even won with this alien Marquez who is more similar to a superman than a human being.
Grandpa Vale can't help but jump for joy and I think we can't help but rejoice.

It's a light translation, from English I think, you should have the motogp video pass to see what it says exactly, this is a transcription from the original video in English, and translated verbatim into Italian, from the motogp.com website

I don't think it's a motogranprix inaccuracy, they took the statements verbatim from MotoGP.

However, it is not the first time that Rossi takes away a few thousandths in interviews :)

however 194 are not two tenths and they are not a tenth :), then well you never know what they are referring to, whether the best lap or the ideal lap, they could always have this idea too.
Even Lorenzo in the end does the same thing, he says that with the soft tire he could have done 1:59.5 – 1:59.6 are all statements of circumstance to be taken with a pinch of salt :)

In this case the mistake would be to have translated 1 (one) instead of 2 (two), it is not easy to make this mistake in good faith, but anything can happen.

No, I didn't even mention motograndprix.

Isn't that 2 tenths??? Let's not look for the error where there isn't one, let's talk about the error that actually exists and is a 100% error.

In fact, at the end I specified it clearly, it's not to create controversy (I wouldn't have clarified as others are used to doing), but I wanted to underline a situation, which for me was abnormal because it was useless considering the tests he carried out.

If it hadn't become his (Vale's) habit to tell things that clash with the reality of the facts, I would have taken those words as a simple mistake.

no maybe I explained myself badly, even in English it says one, :), if there is a mistake it is precisely from the video of the interview from which the text is transcribed :) in any case Rossi is not new to stealing a deicmino in the post test declarations , free practice, qualifying, races :) so I would let it go haha

he went well, but I think that when he gets serious he will still be 4/5... it must be added that during these tests on the race pace, in addition to being slower than Marquez, he loses a lot of respect for his usual rivals... we'll see

Rossi's race pace seemed decent to me compared to that of Lorenzo and Pedrosa, and I think they all did the pace test, with the track much hotter than Marquez who did it in the morning and seemed to be the only one alien. However, Yamaha certainly had problems with race pace, something that Honda didn't have and didn't complain about. For sure, Yamaha still needs to put some things right.
