MotoGP – Sepang Test Day 1 – Toni Elias: “We found the right direction”

The teams and riders of the premier class returned to Sepang (Malaysia) for the second round of pre-championship testing which starts today and will end on the 24th. As usual, heat and a high level of humidity welcomed the 17 official drivers who ran with a temperature of around 35° C and the Australian driver Casey Stoner set the best time of the first day (2'00.987).

Team LCR Honda MotoGP rider Toni Elias gave his all despite the suffocating heat, setting the 13th fastest time. The Spanish rider was eager to return to the track to continue his work on the development of the RC212V, completing 63 laps in total with a best time of 2'02.779.

Elias: “Today I'm happy because we found the right direction and I rode with greater confidence. In these conditions it's not easy given that the asphalt reached 61° today but I didn't stop because I wanted to get the best out of this bike. We focused on the basic set-up by studying the data collected in the first test and working above all on the geometry of the frame and the suspension. We didn't have a long time but that wasn't our goal. Of course there is still a lot of work to do but now I am more confident because a first step forward has been made."
