MotoGP – Sepang Test Day 1 – Suzuki in the lead, Rossi following

First day of MotoGP testing in Sepang, Malaysia. Engines running after the testing embargo over the Christmas period, and we find the same ranking as what was shown in mid-November: Suzuki with John Hopkins in the lead, with all the others following. Extraordinary competitiveness for the GSV-R 800cc “Gamma 7”, the fastest in a ranking that shows Chris Vermeulen and Valentino Rossi following, with the reigning MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden and Loris Capirossi just behind.

All the teams with the new 800cc were present, with the exception of Ilmor which, we remember, decided not to take part in the tests outside the European borders (consequently it will also withdraw from the next tests at Phillip Island). Mild climate, the possibility of rain averted for the moment, which cannot be ruled out in the next two days of testing...
