Dani Pedrosa's biggest concern ahead of the Sepang tests was his physical fitness. Today the Spanish Honda rider had excellent responses from this point of view, managing to consistently lap with a good pace. In the end he ended the day in third position and despite some pain when changing direction and braking he is satisfied. Here are his words.

“I am satisfied with this first day. The priority was to check the feeling on the bike after the long break. I still lack a bit of braking strength and a bit of shoulder stability when changing direction, but I'm happy because the cramps are gone.
Fortunately we still have time to continue physical preparation and reach the strength necessary for the start of the championship. Today I started with the 212 RC2010V to get the feeling back. Not only that, as a starting point we wanted to start from the bike used in the second part of the season and from this continue to improve an already competitive base. In the last two outings of the afternoon we also tried a new swingarm and a new frame and I set my best time of the day with these parts. Tomorrow we plan to test the new engine."
