Monster Yamaha MotoGP Test Qatar Day 2 – Difficult day for Valentino Rossi at the Losail International Circuit, scene of the last pre-season test of the season.

The Monster Energy Yamaha Team rider in fact struggled throughout the session, finishing in the rear, exactly 19th position, 1.202s behind Alex Rins, the fastest of the day.

Rossi tried different chassis and electronic settings but was unable to improve. A worrying situation at the moment, but there is still tomorrow to recover. Here's what the Pesaro native said.

REPORT DAY 2

“Today I was always quite behind and I struggled with grip, especially at the rear. It was a difficult day. It's a shame because we tried some important things and we needed to improve a little, tomorrow we'll try again.”

TIME ATTACK

“I was struggling a bit all day, then at the end I put on the soft tyre, but I didn't do my best, because I knew I wasn't fast enough. However, we worked hard and collected a lot of data, we hope to do better tomorrow."

WORRYING SITUATION?

“Yesterday we worked on the basics, today we tried other material to see if we could improve but we couldn't. Some things that went well in Sepang here didn't "respond" as we expected, we're quite far behind and when you're behind it's always worrying."

SETTING, ELECTRONICS AND CHASSIS

“We tried different settings, different weight balances, a few different things to find more grip at the rear, but they didn't work. We tried things with the chassis, settings and electronics to try to improve acceleration out of the corners, but then the bike slides a lot.”

PACE AND OPPONENTS

“Compared to those in front we are missing a few tenths, let's see if we can improve tomorrow.”
