MotoGP Mugello Michelin Test – In the aftermath of the Italian Grand Prix, the official MotoGP riders took to the track for tests for Michelin, a company that from next year will be the sole supplier instead of Bridgestone. The problems at the front seem to persist, with Valentino Rossi (Arrabbiata 1), Jorge Lorenzo (at Materassi) and Marc Marquez (at Correntaio) ending up on the ground, fortunately all without suffering any physical consequences. The French manufacturer does not yet have the performance of the Japanese one on the front, a strong point of the current Bridgestones.

On the track the two Hondas of Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, the Yamahas of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, the Aprilia of Alvaro Bautista and the Ducatis of Andrea Dovizioso and Michele Pirro, with Andrea Iannone absent, given that the rider from Vasto did not want take risks given the situation of his shoulder.

Michelin Technical Director Nicolas Goubert said: “We came here two weeks ago with the test drivers to be ready for today; we are here at the second test with the top riders, a very important event for us, the evaluations they give us will be the key to their successes."

“The testers, as well as the officials, were satisfied with the rear tires at the Sepang test. On the front, however, they asked us to improve some parameters. We will therefore have four different front tires to test, and only a pair of rear ones: the profile will be substantially identical to the one tested in Sepang; there will be two variants for the construction and a new compound.”

The next appointment is for the post-GP tests in Brno, where Michelin will hopefully resolve these obvious problems on the front.
