MotoGP | IRTA Thailand Test Day 1: Morbidelli, “I like the track, but we are still trying to adapt”

MotoGP Test Irta Thailand Marc VDS – Franco Morbidelli closed the first day of testing on the Buriram circuit with the nineteenth time, just under a second off the top.

The Marc VDS team driver, still struggling with his apprenticeship, is quite satisfied with the result. The gap from the top achieved today is the smallest since he got on a MotoGP bike, a demonstration of his continuous efforts. There is still a lot to work on both on the electronic set up and on the position on the bike, but the continuous improvements "calm down" the Italian-Brazilian rider. Morbidelli was also responsible for a crash at the start of the session, fortunately without consequences.

We are still trying to adapt, make changes on the bike to better suit this circuit and, already, we are seeing some improvements. I'm just 0.9s from the top, which isn't too much and is the smallest gap we've had so far, which is very positive. Now we have to continue to improve and work to understand the bike better. I like the track here in Thailand, the corners are quite difficult to master. The only negative today was a low speed crash in turn seven, when I was going out for the start of the run. I'm not sure what caused the crash, but we'll check the data tonight to see what happened. “
