Pedrosa remains close to Nicky Hayden on the overall time, but due to his first crash of the year in the dry he had to interrupt his work program for two hours. A mistake on his part, as the two-time 250cc world champion rider himself clarifies...

“Fortunately it didn't rain, but the wind bothered us today. I crashed just when I was improving my lap time and race pace. For me it was a problem because my first dry slide came at exactly the wrong time. I made a mistake, I applied the brakes too hard and found myself on the ground, and so I lost two hours of testing just when the high temperatures would have made our task easier. Let's say that I need this fall to learn, it's an extra experience in my debut year. We are improving from time to time, and unfortunately given the temperatures it is not possible to make a comparison with Sepang. I also need this to get to know MotoGP better..."
