MotoGP – Barcelona Test Day 1 – John Hopkins is the fastest

John Hopkins was the fastest on the first day of post-GP testing in Barcelona, ​​where the seventh round of the 2007 world championship took place yesterday. The Suzuki rider who finished fourth yesterday behind Casey Stoner, Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa lapped in 1'41.40 ahead of the Honda of Toni Elias (1'42.63) and the Ducati of Casey Stoner (1'42.689).

Fourth time for Valentino Rossi, the Yamaha rider from Pesaro worked with Michelin, testing different tires and obtaining his best time of 1'42.72. Behind Rossi are the Ducatis of Alex Barros and Loris Capirossi. The Brazilian worked on the setting of his GP7 and with the Bridgestone, trying different types of tyres. Seventh time for Marco Melandri, eighth Chris Vermeulen, the Australian from Suzuki put the Frenchman Randy De Puniet behind him who finished fifth yesterday, his best result since he started competing in MotoGP. De Puniet wanted to get on track despite the pain in his knee in order to better prepare for the next GP which will take place in less than two weeks on the Donington Park track.

Tenth and eleventh times for the Honda HRCs of Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden; Hayden tested the new chassis that Pedrosa already had available and also worked on the clutch as well as tire tests. Pedrosa also worked on the tires and chassis, even falling without suffering any physical consequences. Also on track were Andrew Pitt who carried out tire tests for Yamaha (1'44 ″ 5 his best time) and Anthony West (1'44 ″ 7 with the injured Jacque's Kawasaki).
