Jorge Lorenzo conquers pole position at the MotoGP Silverstone Grand Prix, fifth round of the season. The Spanish Yamaha rider stopped the clock in 2'03.308, leaving behind Randy De Puniet and Dani Pedrosa, who crashed in the final minutes.

If the representative of the LCR Honda team did nothing to himself by gaining a surprising second position on the grid, the conditions of Pedrosa appear to be more problematic, visibly in pain and taken to the medical center of the Silverstone circuit on a stretcher: already without Rossi and with Pedrosa injured Lorenzo he would find himself with a clear path to the title race.

Back is Casey Stoner, only sixth and also preceded by teammate Nicky Hayden, fifth, and Andrea Dovizioso who will open the second row with the fourth fastest time.

Eighth and ninth were the two riders of the San Carlo Honda Gresini team, Marco Melandri and Marco Simoncelli, beaten by Ben Spies' Yamaha in 7th position. Bad Loris Capirossi only 14th with a Suzuki in difficulty.
