Nicky Hayden he ends the first day of free practice with the 8th fastest time, 1.1 from the top. The American, first of the Ducatis, had good sensations from this first day of testing he has already improved his best test lap here this winter by a full 2 seconds, although it must be said that at the time he was recovering from an injury which had forced him to undergo surgery. However, the American feels good on the bike and even his fractured wrist is better

“When we came here this winter I was recovering from an injury and those tests weren't very significant for me – Hayden said – It's difficult to make comparisons with then. At the moment, however, we are working to increase the "grip" in the bend and we achieved some improvements, given that today I lapped two seconds faster than my same time in FP1 in 2011. I also mounted the new swingarm which certainly offers a better rear feel. The afternoon session was very strange because as often happens on long tracks, one part was completely dry and one wet. I did two laps, just to check the bike in the wet in case it rains on Sunday. In any case, today I felt decidedly more comfortable than in Motegi both in terms of my wrist and the bike so let's hope that things go better in general."
