MotoGP Sepang: Nicky Hayden “Good result, but in the wet I could have done more”

Nicky Hayden closes on the podium the Sepang Grand Prix with 4th place. The American at the start was slowed down by Dovizioso and thus found himself at the back. Then little by little he got into a good rhythm and caught up with several riders, also putting his team-mate Valentino Rossi behind him, surpassed thanks to a long shot from the Pesaro player. In the end Hayden finishes at the foot of the podium, even if he never managed to undermine the third place much, Casey Stoner.

“These were difficult conditions – Hayden said – I shot pretty well but when Dovizioso skidded in front of me, I had to close the throttle and I lost a lot. I started to recover but, at first, I had to be very careful because I took a couple of risks. However, then I got into a good rhythm until they suspended the race. It was definitely the right decision, there was a lot of water and you couldn't see anything, even if the rear lights of the motorbikes helped a little. In the dry, fourth place would have satisfied me a lot but I know that in the wet our potential is greater. Today it would have been fantastic to get the podium for my team but that's how it went, it's still a decent result. Let's hope it helps me get out of this hard period and that this is only the beginning."
