When the rain started falling on the Sepang track, Alex De Angelis' expectations for the Malaysian GP immediately rose. The San Marino driver, now proverbially strong on the tracks in wet conditions, saw the Malaysian race as an excellent opportunity to overturn the qualifying which had brought him a tenth place on the grid. Unfortunately this was not the case. The San Carlo Honda Gresini team rider was the protagonist of a not too happy start which relegated him to the rear. Alex tried to recover the situation by implementing a comeback made very difficult however by the skidding of his Honda RC212V. In fact, it was a challenge for the San Marino driver to control the bike because he wasn't comfortable with the setting. The situation then worsened over the course of the laps because, precisely because of the skidding, his tires deteriorated earlier than usual, making it difficult to manage the race. A real shame for De Angelis, who is usually very fast in the wet and who, in Malaysia, had set himself the goal of consolidating seventh position. The feat is only postponed to Valencia, Alex is now ninth with 105 points and the seventh driver is just three points away. Now De Angelis will return to San Marino to rest after the long trip to Australia and Malaysia, but on November 8th at the Ricardo Torno he will look for the sharp finale to his season on a track that the San Marino man likes so much.

Alex De Angelis (12th): “I'm disappointed with today's race but it was impossible to do better. The bike was sliding a lot and the bad start certainly didn't help. I could have done better in the first laps but I missed the opportunity because every time I overtook Kallio he caught me on the straight. The bike then continued to get worse, it was really difficult to keep it also because the tires went up in temperature and wore out sooner than the others. In the final laps two other riders inevitably overtook me and so I finished twelfth. A real shame but now there's Valencia, one of my favorite tracks."
