the German GP scheduled for this weekend on the Sachsenring circuit marks the "turning point" in the MotoGP calendar which includes 18 races and the riders of the premier class took to the track this morning for a rather "eventful" first session which saw several riders end up in the gravel.

Team LCR Honda rider Toni Elias, who won the GP here last year astride the Moto2, was only able to complete 7 laps this morning and was the victim of two falls: one at turn 11 and the other at the first corner after the straight . Fortunately, the Spaniard emerged unscathed from both accidents and then got back on the bike in the second session of the afternoon, continuing to fine-tune his RCV on the "meandering" German track.

Elias – 16th – 1'24.304: “First of all I'm lucky to be in one piece after the falls this morning. Both accidents were quite "heavy" because I was exceeding 200km/h but luckily I only have an abrasion on my right arm. I love this track but I'm starting to hate that fast corner (11) because I've already fallen there several times in the past. However, in the afternoon I got back on the saddle and continued my set-up programme: we have some small problems with the front and we lack grip in the rear at maximum inclination. It's important to improve the stability of the bike in corners because this track is very "twisty" and this is our main objective for tomorrow."
