MotoGP Sachsenring: Andrea Iannone, “I didn't expect these problems, but I remain confident”

Andrea Iannone MotoGP 2015 Ducati GP Germany QP – Andrea Iannone will start from the second row tomorrow in the German Grand Prix, ninth stage of the 2015 world championship. The Ducati rider achieved the fourth fastest time with a time of 1:21.029, immediately behind the Hondas of Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa and the Jorge Lorenzo's Yamaha.

Andrea, does this second row satisfy you or did you expect more?

“A good starting position was very important, because it wasn't a given to be in the first two rows. I'm happy to have taken advantage of the soft tire and achieved a good time. I think I've brought home the best of what we can do right now. However, I am not satisfied with the general performance, the bike tends to slide a little too much, even if something improved in FP4. We understand that we have some margin on the electronics side. I'm not saying we neglected it, but we focused more on the setting, when instead a small electronic change gave us two tenths.”

What is a realistic goal for tomorrow's race?

“It's always difficult to talk about objectives, a rider always wants the best, but we know that we can't get it now. At this moment we are struggling more. Since the beginning of the year I have been saying that we must always be in the top five, but we are not happy with these results, we have higher ambitions and we will try to do our best."

If the same problems we had here and at Assen were also found on a favorable track like Indy, would it be worrying?

“After the Mugello race and also after the start of the championship we were convinced that we had a competitive bike and I still think so. I believe that others with experience and knowledge have improved more than us, but I didn't expect these problems and we have to grit our teeth until tomorrow, trying to make the most of what we have. I'm very confident about the tests we have next week in Misano, which could help us in future races. "
