On the Donington circuit Loris Capirossi is back where he belongs, that is, at the front. The Ducati Marlboro Team rider, third at the Sachsenring until he suffered a fall, is certain that tomorrow he will be able to continue fighting to defend his front row on the starting grid.

“I'm very happy with this provisional front row, but we still have to work on the set-up” - commented Loris. “Today's result is very important for the team and shows that we must always hold on: everyone, on the track and at home, worked very hard and kept their morale high. I don't have a great feeling with the bike yet, but I'm sure we can improve tomorrow. The new asphalt has less grip than the old one but it is much more uniform and without potholes and is certainly better than before."

Troy Bayliss, who looked like he could conquer the second row of the provisional grid for the British GP, concluded this afternoon's timed practice with the 9th best time. His goal for tomorrow is to improve the feeling with the front to be able to enter corners more decisively.

“The new surface is decidedly smoother and the potholes have disappeared” – explained Bayliss. “The grip isn't bad but it seems like the new asphalt is giving the tires a hard time. This afternoon I did a few laps with a tire that I had used this morning and it wasn't bad, but I would have to run it a little more to better understand if it is really the most suitable for this track. Overall I'm quite satisfied with this day even if I still have little feeling up front: tomorrow we'll work on the front and try to improve."
