MotoGP Qatar: Alvaro Bautista “Marquez is too aggressive, so we can get hurt”
The Spaniard from Aprilia, hit by the world champion at the start, abandons the race prematurely
MotoGP Qatar race – Alvaro Bautista he closed the Losail GP with a retirement, due to a contact at turn 6 with Marc Marquez. The Aprilia rider was in fact hit by the reigning world champion while he was trying to recover after being touched immediately after the start. Bautista, famous in the past for having knocked out Lorenzo and Rossi at the start, this time was the victim of a hard entry but fortunately he didn't crash, even if he had to retire after a few laps as his bike was knocked out.
“Unfortunately, the race test we had planned ended immediately – said Alvaro Bautista – Marquez started badly and wanted to recover positions quickly, but without considering the presence of the other riders on the track. At turn 6 he got between me and Barbera, I don't know how, hitting me and ruining the entire front brake area, pipes and sensors. It was impossible to continue. I am sorry because Marc is a good guy, but other times he has been too aggressive in situations like this. I think it's right to point this out to him because it's risky this way; today I was lucky because I didn't fall, but you can get hurt. As mentioned, it was therefore not possible to complete our test today but we must immediately forget this episode and start thinking about the next appointment in Austin: a very different track from this one on which we will have the opportunity to verify all the data collected this weekend to develop the bike and look for improvements."
