MotoGP – Last July 1st, a delegation from FIM and Dorna, led by Franco Uncini, Loris Capirossi and Carmelo Ezpeleta, went to the KymiRing, the circuit still under construction, which should host a stage of the MotoGP from next year.

The purpose of the visit was to check for any safety issues, the layout of the circuit, and the progress of the construction works. The visit was also a great opportunity to decide smaller details for the track, such as locations and lengths of curbs and FIM facilities for testing. Two days of testing are scheduled on the Finnish track on 19 and 20 August.

Tapio Nevala, President of the Finnish Motorcycle Federation, said: “We have gotten great feedback from safety professionals and are continuing to build KymiRing as one of the greatest circuits in the world.”

Franco Uncini, like the person responsible for homologation, believes that it will be a safe track, compliant with all current requirements and like Loris Capirossi, they are sure that the riders will like it.

Carlos Ezpeleta, Dorna Sporting Senior Director: “The progress we have seen is and we believe, the track will be ready for the test from 19 to 20 August. The track layout is great and we hope it will lead to exciting racing, everything seems to be happening on schedule and we are very much looking forward to the first laps."
