This year Casey Stoner was unable to repeat last year's world title but he nevertheless proved to be the true present and future antagonist for the 2008 world champion Valentino Rossi. In the last race held at Phillip Island (his home race) he returned to victory and this will again be the objective for the last two races which will take place in Sepang and Valencia. However, there is one thing that matters even more to him and that is trying the 2009 version Desmosedici before the scaphoid operation which will keep him away from the tracks for around 3 months. He has the microphone.

“In the last few races we managed to be very fast in all the dry sessions, with some more difficulties in the wet. However, we think we have also found a good solution for the rain setups in Australia so, unless some completely unexpected problem arises, we can be confident of doing well in Sepang too. I quite like the track and it brings back good memories because I won there in all classes, in 125cc and 250cc (2004 and 2005) and last year in MotoGP. The track is very varied with nice fast corners where you lean a lot, but also narrow and not very fun corners. We will give our all to finish the season in a positive way, trying to obtain good results, even if the thing I care most about now are the end-of-season tests in Valencia, to start working on the new Desmosedici."
