Overlooking the sea, the Phillip Island track is the quintessence of motorcycling: unique, splendid, technical. The track is located on a naturalistic island within Melbourne Bay. A nature reserve, the island is a destination for tourists who arrive every day to watch the penguin parade. In total respect of the surrounding environment, the circuit hosts a limited number of races and the test days are also limited. In fact, the managers of the circuit negotiate with the inhabitants of the island the opening times and days of the facility.

Phillip Island has the charm of a track from times gone by. A simple system that features only the essential structures. There are no large grandstands on the finish line that prevail in new generation circuits. The gray of the concrete merges here with the green of the hills. There is nothing around the track: just grassy hills and the blue sea. The ocean is really very close and this gives the track a special charm. The design of the track adds to the beauty of the places and the grandeur of nature: technical and complete. A track that enhances the driver's driving characteristics. The track expertly alternates slow sections with very fast ones, has strong accelerations, violent braking, changes in slope and trajectory.
It can be overtaken in many places, the upper part still remains the most favored among pilots.
The track requires particular attention in the choice of tires which are particularly stressed here given the presence of many fast left-hand corners. Good acceleration accompanied by agility in corners are the secret to tackling one of the most eagerly awaited races of the year in the best possible way.
