The Rizla Suzuki rider will return home for the next round of the MotoGP World Championship, the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix, which will take place on the Misano circuit in Italy. Capirossi is from Castel San Pietro Terme, near Bologna, about 100 km from the Misano circuit. The Italian hopes to bring home another good result: in the past two seasons he has finished the race with two top fives. Capirossi is still looking for his XNUMXth podium and to be able to earn it in front of his fans would be perfect.

For Álvaro Bautista, however, it will be the first race in Misano on a MotoGP bike. The Spaniard arrives after an exciting last race in Indianapolis, in which he crossed the finish line in eighth place. Bautista is confident because he has done well on the Misano circuit in recent seasons: he won in 2008 in the 250cc class, while last year, again in the quarter-litre class, he climbed to the third step of the podium.

The Misano circuit was designed in 1969 and the first race was held three years later. Since 1980 it has hosted 11 Grand Prix; MotoGP arrived for the first time in 2007, when Rizla Suzuki riders Chris Vermeulen and John Hopkins took the second and third step of the podium.

Rizla Suzuki will take to the track for the first free practice session on Friday afternoon, followed by a second free practice session on Saturday morning. Qualifying on Saturday afternoon will decide the positions on the starting grid for Sunday's race, which will start at 14.00 pm local time.

Loris Capirossi:

“It's always nice to race at home, Misano is the closest circuit to my home. I really want to have a good race, because we have worked hard all season without getting the results I think we deserve – Misano will be the ideal place to start and turn the season around. We still need to find the right solution to find the best feeling with the GSV-R, so we will try to be as competitive as possible from day one. We have to stay optimistic, we have seven more races this year and we have to keep fighting to get to the top.”

Alvaro Bautista:

“After last weekend I have more confidence in myself and in the bike, in Misano I will give my all from the start to improve my performance on the bike. Finishing the race in Indianapolis was very important for me – it felt like a long time since I crossed the finish line. I still believe I can fight with the leading group, that must be our next goal, we must continue to improve for the rest of the season.”
