In Imola everyone was talking about him, even though it was a Formula 1 Grand Prix. In the meantime, he dedicated himself to testing in Monza with a 1 Yamaha YZR M2005 for advertising reasons, also thinking in a certain way about the next one race scheduled in Istanbul. For Valentino Rossi the 2006 Turkish GP could represent the chance to make up ground in the standings, but also to beat Max Biaggi (a ninth place is enough for him) in the calculation of points collected in all classes in his career. Seven points, and in this table too he will be number 1...

“The Qatar GP was my start to the championship but we are behind in the standings and we have to give our best to catch up. My rivals are very strong and in Turkey we must be able to fight for victory again. Istanbul is not one of my favorite tracks, so much so that last year was tough, not only because we had already won the world championship and staying 100% focused was challenging, but also because we weren't completely right with the set up of the motorcycle. What is certain is that this year we will be fully motivated. We don't know how the new bike will react on this track; I obviously hope that it will go well and that there will be no vibration problems. There are some really fantastic fast corners and with the bike in order it's really fun. After the race in Qatar we made further tests and further progress and, although some difficulties have not completely disappeared, hopefully, should they arise again, we will now be able to manage them better."
