Alvaro Bautista has passed the medical exam which will allow him to race the Portuguese Grand Prix. The Suzuki rider who injured his left femur in qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix (opening race of the 2011 world championship) is therefore back on the GSV-R 800cc which he had left in the hands of John Hopkins in Jerez.

The doctors who examined the Spanish rider found him in good shape and the long-awaited OK was therefore obtained. The Suzuki rider managed to recover very quickly also thanks to the hyperbaric chamber and obviously to his great sacrifice. However, it is not certain that the former quarter-litre driver will be able to race on Sunday; only after the first day of testing will he understand if he will be able to compete and if it will be worth the risk. In case he doesn't make it, Nobuatsu Aoki will take his place.
