The Brno track winds through the hills surrounding the second city of the Czech Republic and is a cornerstone of motorcycling. Built in 1987 to replace the old and dangerous road circuit that had hosted the GP until then, it is an old-fashioned track and therefore loved by the majority of drivers. The track has a very wide layout, reaching up to 15 meters in width in some places, and its main feature are the fast chicanes which require very quick changes of direction. However, the entire track is fast and streamlined with a great mix of curves and changes in gradient. Its width, which rewards the most precise trajectories, and the continuous differences in height with many downhill braking points, require a perfect set up, great driving talent and excellent tire performance. The engine is also an important factor because the long uphill straights allow the MotoGP bikes to express all their power. Last year the track was completely resurfaced.
