Valentino Rossi is preparing to contest his 201st GP on the Assen circuit. The Pesaro Yamaha rider who finished second at Donington Park behind Casey Stoner wants to return to fighting for victory, something that had not been possible in Great Britain. However, Rossi collected important points by finishing ahead of Dani Pedrosa, his main pursuer in the general classification. Furthermore, Assen is one of his favorite circuits. He has the microphone.

“I'm happy to go straight to Assen, another of my favorite circuits. It went well at Donington, we collected important points and extended our lead in the championship, but it was a bit disappointing not to have been able to fight for the win with Stoner. I'm happy to have to wait just a few days to try again! Last year the Assen race was magical, the best of the season, I'd like to do it again. Obviously this time I would prefer to start from the front row rather than the fourth, even if doing all those overtakings in 2007 was great fun! I still miss the 'old' Assen, but the current one is still a fantastic track with a very special atmosphere; plus, our M1 usually works very well here so I expect another exciting weekend. Donington has shown us once again how strong our rivals are, so we can't relax even for a moment, but we have to give our all from Friday morning if we want to reach the goal of getting back onto the top step of the podium.”
