Casey Stoner set the best time in the warm-up of the MotoGP class at Phillip Island, the scene of the sixteenth round of the 2007 premier class. The Ducati rider achieved it with a time of 1'30"860, ahead of the Yamaha of Valentino Rossi from Pesaro and the Kawasaki of Frenchman Randy De Puniet by 475 thousandths. Fourth time for Nicky Hayden, the American rider of Team Honda Repsol lapped in 502'1"31, putting behind him the Ducati GP454 of Team Pramac D'Antin of Brazilian Alex Barros and the Honda of teammate and pole-sitter Dani Pedrosa (7'1"31).
