MotoGP – Phillip Island Warm Up – Casey Stoner is the fastest

Casey Stoner set the best time in the warm-up of the MotoGP class at Phillip Island, the scene of the sixteenth round of the 2007 premier class. The Ducati rider achieved it with a time of 1'30"860, ahead of the Yamaha of Valentino Rossi from Pesaro and the Kawasaki of Frenchman Randy De Puniet by 475 thousandths. Fourth time for Nicky Hayden, the American rider of Team Honda Repsol lapped in 502'1"31, putting behind him the Ducati GP454 of Team Pramac D'Antin of Brazilian Alex Barros and the Honda of teammate and pole-sitter Dani Pedrosa (7'1"31). Ducati therefore in command with Stoner who wants to be a "prophet in his homeland" and Rossi ready to ruin his party.

Seventh time for Marco Melandri, the Team Gresini rider and next Ducati rider is 843 thousandths behind his next teammate and is followed by the Australian from Kawasaki Anthony West, from the Ducati of our Loris Capirossi, from the Suzuki of the American John Hopkins and from the Honda of Team LCR of Carlos Checa, next rider of Team Tenkate SBK.

Twelfth and thirteenth times for the Yamahas of Guintoli and Edwards with the latter who, despite his good intentions, was unable to solve the problems of his M1. Followed by Elias, Vermeulen, Davies, Nakano, Tamada and Kurtis Roberts.
