MotoGP 2015 Phillip Island Free Practice 1 – Jorge Lorenzo set the best time in the first free practice session of the Australian Grand Prix, which will take place this weekend at Phillip Island.

The four-time world champion stopped the clock at a time of 1:30.047, a time that allowed him to precede his Honda compatriot and reigning champion Marc Marquez by more than three tenths (0.348s).

Third time for our Valentino Rossi, author of the personal best-lap of 1:30.572 (+0.525). Motegi winner Dani Pedrosa is fourth, ahead of the two Team LCR Hondas of Australian Jack Miller (his performance was great aboard the Honda Open) and Cal Crutchlow.

Bradley Smith on the Team Tech 3 Yamaha is seventh, ahead of the first Ducati, that of Andrea Iannone, who brought his GP15 ahead of Pol Espargarò's Yamaha and Maverick Vinales' Suzuki.

Andrea Dovizioso with the second GP15 is eleventh, while Dil from Terni of Team Pramac Ducati, Danilo Petrucci, is fourteenth at 1.623.

The Australians Anthony West (Honda Open) and Damian Cudlin (ART Iodaracing), who replace the injured Karel Abraham and Alex de Angelis respectively, close the list of times, with the twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth fastest times.

The session was disturbed by light rain, which became more insistent towards the end of the session; Jorge Lorenzo's time was two seconds higher than the track record, 1'27.899, which belongs to the Majorcan himself.

In the morning in FP1 the important riders mainly used the Super Soft on the front, with a green band and the medium on the rear, which given the low temperatures today, Saturday and Sunday should be the choice on the rear for the race.

In FP1 they had less than fantastic weather conditions, with a lot of cloud cover and a few drops of rain.
