MotoGP 2015 Repsol Honda GP Australia Race – Marc Marquez won the Australian Grand Prix in the MotoGP class, the sixteenth and third last stage of the 2015 world championship. The Honda champion beat Jorge Lorenzo with a fantastic last lap, where he also set a new track record. For him it is the fifth victory of the season, the fiftieth of his career. The word is up to him.

“It was a beautiful race, with Vale (Rossi, ed.) and Andrea (Iannone, ed.) we overtook each other many times and at that moment Jorge (Lorenzo, ed.) took a bit of a gap. At a certain point I couldn't push because the tire had overheated and so I had to wait a few laps. Then on the last lap I gave 110% and managed to win, I'm very happy with this victory. We worked hard all weekend.”

In the race the Yamahas seemed to have closed the gap, how did you see them?

“The two Yamahas in the race went very fast, much more than in practice. Andrea (Iannone, ed.) was also a great opponent as was Rossi, with whom we took a big risk at turn 10, they could both end up on the ground.”

You had an incredible last lap, where you managed to make the winning overtake.

“The last overtaking on Jorge was beautiful. I have to thank the team, because we worked so hard this weekend. This year we lacked consistency, for example in Motegi we weren't right, both in the dry and in the wet, but especially with the slicks. Two races left, let's hope to finish the season well.”

Great race!!!! However it was clear that Marquez tried to help Lorenzo, he had more from the start but he tried to slow down Rossi by making Lorenzo escape more than once.

Hi Nando. Why do you say that in your opinion it is clear that Marc deliberately helped Lorenzo?? I'm asking you because it seemed to me that he did his own race, then at the end he damned himself to take away 5 points which Lorenzo would have been very comfortable with with Rossi fourth. Someone here says that at a certain point Marc slowed down and dramatically signaled Rossi to pass, but I didn't see this "dramatic gesture", did you see it??

No, I didn't see the gesture but in my opinion Marquez's help to Lorenzo was clear, it was clear that he was faster than everyone, every time Rossi or Iannone got into second position and approached Lorenzo, Marquez he dueled by passing them, making Lorenzo move away until the end, last lap Marquez 1.29.2 making two overtakes, how do you explain it?? I don't know if he initially thought of letting Lorenzo win, leaving a victory for a driver is very difficult, however he also managed to win. If he had done his race on the third lap he would have taken the lead and said goodbye to everyone, in this case Lorenzo he would have finished 4th because he was the slowest of the 4.

out of curiosity I went to see that gesture again, it's nothing more than a tear of film from the visor... and the famous slowdowns mentioned to let Rossi pass, reviewing the race, also in my opinion they are not to let him pass, but the intended intention of slowing him down... ..

Nando you got it for me...

I went to look at the analysis of the times and in fact I think you're right, Nando. Marquez lapped overall 2-3 tenths faster than Lorenzo throughout the race, except when he was involved in battles with Vale and Iannone. Marc climbed above the 7 mark 1,30 times but of these 7 times, 3 were consecutive i.e. on lap 21-22-23 when he slowed down Rossi thus allowing Iannone to return to Vale, then, having completed his mission restarted with a 1'29,6 and 1'29,28 on the last lap, therefore 2 consecutive record times. It should be noted that in the last lap Lorenzo did 1'30,3 ha, that is, he lapped 1 second slower than Marquez and this is what relegated him to second position...

I'm not one of those who shout about conspiracies but it was clear that Marquez had much more than the others, in my opinion his intent was to get Rossi behind Lorenzo and he succeeded and then he was also able to win. I think of all the emulations done by Marquez, Laguna Seca, overtaking Lorenzo in Jerez, in my opinion he didn't swallow the two duels with Rossi this year and now out for the world championship he's trying to get revenge. Logically I'm not in his head so I can't prove it but I'm absolutely convinced.

I would go even further. In my opinion he wanted to teach both title contenders a lesson, as if to say: I'm out of contention but I remain the strongest on the track and I can influence the result as I wish... Anyway even if he apparently took 4 points away from Rossi and 5 Lorenzo took much more away from Vale because without the brawl caused by Marquez both Rossi and Iannone would have gone to get Lorenzo, as, times in hand, both were constantly lapping faster than Jorge..

Honestly, in the excitement of the race with all those overtaking I didn't even notice the film that Marquez took off….
Rossi, however, after the statement you quoted, even if you are "usual" of throwing fuel on the fire with half-words to avoid breathing, I think he too is tied to it, and if he has the chance I don't think he'll let the boy get away with it …..

And I'm not a conspiracy theorist either...

I agree, if our thoughts are right it will be tough, I hope that Marquez will do his race in the next ones even winning but that he won't bother Rossi anymore or alternatively he will have an inferior bike so as not to be with the Yamahas, it's not nice to say because the battle was beautiful but if done with the intention of slowing Rossi down it's not good.

if he took them from red it can only be his fault, he was stronger in those races.

Never been a fan of this smart guy... but after a hard-fought race, pulling off a lap like that at the end is truly something extraordinary, regardless of the condition of his finger, even if I don't think he had time to feel pain.

A lot of stuff indeed, congratulations and little else to add

    Rossi:
“One of the best of the year, especially for the number of bikes involved, it was great fun. Unfortunately, the Yamaha's weak point is its top speed and this applies more to me than to Lorenzo, who is lighter. Competing with Honda and Ducati is difficult, losing a lot on the straight. At a certain point Marc even slowed down but I didn't understand why, I certainly don't think it was the fault of the overheated front tire as he said."

    To the wise.....
