Nicky Hayden finds himself only in eleventh position after the first session of testing at Phillip Island. The American from Ducati achieved a personal best time of 1'32.771, far from the first position and his teammate due to some problems encountered during the hour of testing, hoping to be able to improve tomorrow.

"Today we had beautiful sunshine which raised the temperature of the asphalt slightly but also a few drops of rain which didn't help us. The tests started well, I got into a good rhythm, but at a certain point I was no longer able to improve significantly and I fell behind. I'm certainly not happy about being so far behind the pace of the best. However, here in the past it happened that I needed a while to get into a good rhythm and then I got some good results, so I remain quite optimistic. What is certain is that we absolutely need to make the bike work better, especially on potholes, and find more "grip" when cornering. We hope to make a good step forward tomorrow."
